" SERIOUSLY LOVE this bag! My search is over... !"
I never write reviews, but this purse inspired this LONG gush... I've spent years looking for the perfect black tote-style purse with wider long handles (11" min), less than a few pounds (empty) since I have shoulder issues, with a decent amount of compartments. Not too large, not too small. Think Brenda's bag on The Closer. I've purchased many Gianni Bernini bags because they met the compartment and lightweight requirement, only to have them get scuffed within months and fall apart inside of a year. And I'd come close to buying numerous Kors, Kate Spade, Coach bags, but the handles weren't right, or they were just WAY too heavy. So... A few months back I was at our local outlet mall, and stumbled into Wilsons. I was stunned--I found this bag! VERY well-made: sturdy, but not too heavy, durable leather, great stitching, solid bottom, and while there is no divider compartment inside, the interior and exterior pockets are decent size, and there are 2 open interior pockets that can hold Kleenex pouches, phones, keys, etc. The back exterior pocket is flat and thin, so I only keep my work electronic entry badge there, as to not stretch it out with repeated openings--I just swing it by the sensor. The inside is huge, and I can stuff a sweater, iPad, or whatever inside, but it's not so large that it's bulky. I did have to add a mini pouch to the mix to hold smaller items that didn't fit in the zip pocket. The shape is perfect, the top tapers, and the bottom width is just enough to have space, but not make your arms fly away from your torso. I even loved the silver hardware, which is hard to find, as I'm not a fan of gold. The handles don't have buckles or rivets, so none of my sweaters are snagging, like with other purses. And I LOVE that they attach via independent hardware, and aren't stitched directly onto the bag--stitched handles are usually the first thing to fail. They also stay on my shoulders pretty well, good width, and the hardware solution doesn't cause a gravity pull in the opposite direction. As for wear, I'm 2 months in, and this purse is still in mint condition! NO scuffs, holding it's shape perfectly with no sign of wear anywhere. I LOVE IT! And even the price was great! The only changes I would make if I could recommend any to the manufacturer would be: 1) add bottom feet--while the bottom is solid and the leather is great and I don't expect wear or sagging, feet also protect the bag from germs, dirt, and moisture if you have to put your purse on the ground: 2) stitch down the leftover handle flaps--a larger weave crochet would still catch on those--or better yet, make them tubular instead of flat for even more comfort. But KEEP the drop length, that's key; 3) maybe add one more open pocket to the inside, there is plenty of room next to the other two and the thickness of your leather would handle the weight pull. That would allow for keys, a Kleenex pouch, AND the new larger phones. Other than that, this is the perfect tote purse, and I expect it to last for many years! THANK YOU WILSONS!!!
